Moloney Award 2010

This presentation is aimed at educating general practitioners about a simple cost effective way of improving their efficiency and clinical results.
Dr Sharkey provided a five-minute practical display of some of the uses of silicone indices in fixed prosthodontics at the Irish Dental Association's (IDA) annual scientific meeting in Galway in May.
The uses shown by Dr Sharkey included:
- The transfer of diagnostic wax-ups
- The fabrication of provisional restorations
- In composite restorations
- In the diagnostic evaluation of tooth reduction.
The presentation was aimed at educating general practitioners about a simple cost effective way of improving their efficiency and clinical results.
The Moloney Award was established in 2003 to recognise the outstanding contribution made by the late Dr Joe Moloney to promoting oral health in Ireland, through his involvement as a founding member of the Dental Health Foundation and his lifetime contribution to the IDA.
