At the Dental Health Foundation, we believe that oral health is the gateway to all body health. It is a dynamic and multifaceted system enabling us to speak, smile, smell, taste, touch, chew, swallow and convey a range of emotions through our facial expression with confidence and without pain or discomfort.
The Dental Health Foundation is committed to public health and seeks to encourage and support everyone to make better choices to improve overall health and wellbeing. The Foundation routinely examines the causes of oral ill health and considers how effective oral hygiene practices including toothbrushing with fluoride toothpaste and flossing, can help promote oral and overall health and wellbeing at every stage of life. Lifestyle behaviours also significantly impact on both oral and general health. Dietary choices such as excess sugar consumption and snacking can be risk factors. So too the use of tobacco products and excessive alcohol consumption. Additionally, poor oral hygiene, injury risk and trauma (for e.g. in sport) and socio-economic factors play an important role in overall oral wellness.
Teeth are for life, and every day we can make positive oral health and wellbing choices for the better.
