The Dental Health Foundation was greatly saddened to hear of the passing of Dr Seamus O’Hickey. Seamus and the Dental Health Foundation worked hand in hand as Chair and Secretariat of the Irish Expert Body on Fluorides and Health from 2004- 2017. He was a wonderful colleague, mentor and friend, and an expert on water fluoridation in Ireland. Seamus was highly respected by the oral health profession, both here and abroad, by students and by friends. He made an enormous contribution to Dental Public Health, he was a founding member of both the International Association for Dental Research (Irish Division) and of the Council of European Chief Dental Officers, and was also former Chief Dental Officer in the Department of Health. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
