What is plaque and why should you care?
Plaque makes your teeth feel furry when you touch them with your tongue. It is a sticky film which can be colourless or a yellow colour and is made up of millions of germs or bacteria that cause tooth decay. If too much plaque builds up on and between your teeth, you'll get holes in your teeth or gum disease!
That's why you need to brush your teeth at least twice a day for 2-3 minutes with fluoride toothpaste and floss daily. Plaque builds up on your teeth during the night so it is most important to brush your teeth last thing at night, before you go to bed. Also brush your teeth for a sparkling smile, before you go to school. Toothbrushing helps to remove the plaque and bacteria from your teeth and the fluoride in the toothpaste acts as repair kit and helps to keep your teeth strong.
So, attack that plaque with your toothbrush and toothpaste for a clean mouth, healthy teeth and fresh breath!
