Worried about bad breath for Valentine's Day?

Check out our quick tips

  • Brush your teeth twice a day, at bedtime and one other time. Use fluoride toothpaste 1450ppm.
  • Floss daily to reduce plaque build-up, or use interdental brushes.
  • Gently brushing your tongue will remove bacteria and help to keep your breath fresh.
  • Keep hydrated and drink lots of water.
  • Chew sugar-free gum between meals to increase saliva flow and loosen food particles between the teeth.
  • Be aware that some infections like tonsillitis, sinus infection or an underlyoing health condition may cause bad breath. Speak to your doctor or dentist if your bad breath persists and doesn't clear up.
  • Be still my bleeding gums? If your gums bleed when you brush your teeth (and if you have bad breath) you may have gum disease. Talk to your dental team for advice.
  • Make some healthy changes to your lifestyle. Smoking and alcohol increase the risk of gum disease, bad breath and stains on the teeth.
  • Visit your dental team at least once a year for advice and a check-up to prevent gum disease, tooth decay, bad breath and for a mouth cancer examination.

Happy Valentine's Day, and remember that Self-Care is important too!
