Did you know that the mouth is an important part of all person health?
Healthy Teeth and a Healthy Mouth play a role in a Healthy Heart. Problems in your mouth can affect the rest of your body and people with gum disease may be at risk of heart disease. Unhealthy lifestyle choices such as a bad diet rich in sugar, smoking, excessive alcohol and poor toothbrushing are risk factors that are shared with oral diseases such as gum disease and heart disease. Some Tips for Good Oral Health and Heart Health
Brush your teeth twice a day, at bedtime and one other time, for 2-3 mins using a gentle circular motion. Floss daily to reduce plaque build-up or use interdental brushes. Small diet changes can make a big difference, eat less sugar and more fruit and vegetables.
The Dental Health Foundation is committed to ensuring that everyone is empowered with information that benefits their oral, general and all person health and enables them to live healthier lives.
